Why Recycle Plastics?

As the use of plastics has increased over the years, they have become a larger part of our world’s municipal solid waste (growing from less than 1% in 1960 to more than 12% in 2018 according to a report by the Environmental Protection Agency). First, recycling 1 ton of plastic saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space, not to mention plastic waste that ends up directly in the environment, breaking down into tiny pieces/microplastics to pollute our soil and water. It has been linked to dirupting hormonal growth and carcinogens.

Plastic is something that is difficult to decompose even after hundreds of years. We throw away an average of 5 kg of plastic waste every second, 300 kg every minute, and 19,000 kg every hour. In the end, it becomes the biggest problem we will face. If plastic is not recycled, according to National Geographic, by 2050 there will be 12 billion tons of plastic in landfills.

With plastic recycling process, it provides a solution to reduce waste and creates new products that are beneficial for people's daily lives.
